2026 Virginia Power 500 List Trial Attorney Stephanie E. Grana

Second listing for the Cantor, Grana, Buckner, Bucci partner, who was first named in 2022 while serving as president of the Virginia State Bar

RICHMOND, VA, UNITED STATES, September 9, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Stephanie E. Grana, a partner at Cantor, Grana, Buckner, Bucci, P.C. (CGBB), has been named to the Law category of Virginia 500: The 2026-27 Power List, Virginia Business magazine’s annual identification of the 500 most influential leaders in the state. The list was published Aug. 30, 2026. It is Grana’s second listing.

The Virginia 500 is an editorial feature rather than an award or an endorsement. Virginia Business compiles it through several months of staff research, does not solicit nominations or accept applications, and does not rank the people it names, who appear alphabetically within each of 20 sectors of the state economy. The magazine’s published methodology cites career achievements, scope of responsibility, the size of the organization a leader oversees, and industry and community impact among the factors its editors weigh. This year’s edition named 100 women, 20 percent of the list, and included 85 new entrants.

The Law category is drawn largely from the managing partners and chairs of the state’s largest firms, the deans of Virginia’s law schools, judges, and the current or recent leadership of the Virginia State Bar. Roughly 36 of the 500 leaders named this year appear in it. Grana was first named to the list in 2022, the year she became the 84th president of the Virginia State Bar, the organization that regulates approximately 50,000 attorneys. She was the first Hispanic lawyer and the seventh woman to lead it. “The people on this list run universities, hospitals, and companies that employ thousands. My work is one family at a time. It means a great deal that there's room on a list like this for that kind of practice,” said Grana.

Grana has practiced in Richmond since her admission to the Virginia bar in 1993, following a clerkship on the Court of Appeals of Virginia. She represents individuals and families in catastrophic injury and wrongful death matters, with a concentration in medical malpractice, traumatic brain injury, birth injury, and spinal cord injury cases. She is a past president of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, of the Virginia chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, of the Lewis F. Powell, Jr. American Inn of Court, and of the Metropolitan Richmond Women’s Bar Association. She was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2025, and at the request of the Supreme Court of Virginia, she has served on the Virginia Model Jury Instruction Committee since 2015. In 2019, the state’s defense bar named her the recipient of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys Civility and Professionalism Award.

Over the course of her career, Grana has recovered more than 100 verdicts and settlements exceeding $1 million for the people she represents. Results depend on the unique facts of each case. Prior results do not guarantee or predict a similar outcome in any future matter. Grana serves on the boards of Community Brain Injury Services and of Commonwealth Community Trust, where she is a past chair, and she has captained the firm’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer team since 2003. “Every case I take starts with somebody's worst day. Recognition is a strange thing to accept for that kind of work. What I'll say is that I'm grateful to the clients who trusted us with it.”
